On May 12, Professor Jorgen E. Olesen, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate and head of the Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University, delivered a lecture at BFU titled "Developing the Foundation for Low Carbon Emission Farming in Denmark".  The lecture was part of the Guang Junwei Academic Lecture Series of the School of Soil and Water Conservation and attended by BFU President Li Zhaohu. 

President Li warmly welcomed Professor Olesen, and gave an overview of BFU's development pattern of "One University, Two Campuses and a Forest Park" as well as construction plans for the Xiongan Campus. The two sides discussed ways to strengthen international exchanges, research collaboration, and joint postgraduate training in the new context. 

In his lecture, Professor Olesen elaborated on the European Farm to Fork Strategy, and shared Denmark's approaches to developing low-carbon agriculture. Drawing on detailed research data and case studies, he further discussed the mechanisms and pathways for reducing emissions in agricultural production systems, offering insights into how green agricultural development and ecological conservation can be advanced in a coordinated way against the backdrop of global climate change. 

During the Q&A session, faculty members and students actively raised questions on topics such as the Grain for Green Project, assessment of agricultural greenhouse gas emission, and the carbon sink potential of soils.
