The Second Nansen Forum on Ecological Governance, themed "Eco-City with Integration and Coexistence", was held in Fengtai District on October 24th. The forum was jointly organized by BFU and the People's Government of Fengtai District. The opening ceremony was attended by senior officials from the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and the Beijing Municipal Government, alongside leaders from BFU and principal officials from Fengtai District.

At the ceremony, BFU Secretary Wang Tao and Fengtai District Committee Secretary Wang Shaofeng jointly inaugurated the "Ecological Civilization Classroom" at Nanyuan Forest Wetland Park. This collaborative initiative aims to advance ecological education and establish a leading model for biodiversity demonstration in central Beijing, creating a hub for science education, nature learning, and ecological dialogue with city-wide and national influence.

Vice President Cheng Wu announced that the International Science and Education Alliance for Migratory Bird Flyways, which founded during the first Nansen Forum with 21 institutions across 13 countries and regions, has been selected as one of the first 25 global projects of the UNESCO "International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (2024-2033)". This recognition highlights BFU's active contribution to global ecological governance.

Keynote speeches were delivered by Andy Sheppard, Academician of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering and International Fellow of the French Academy of Agriculture, and the Vice Dean of the School of Landscape Architecture, focusing on biosecurity in urban environments and the development of capital garden cities respectively.

Launched in 2024 through BFU-Fengtai cooperation, the Nansen Forum has now been held twice. This year's event attracted over 50 enterprises from sectors such as ecology, landscaping, water management, and media, showcasing tangible outcomes of the district-university partnership. The forum is set to become an annual platform to advance ecological conservation and sustainable urban governance.
