UNESCO official delivers career lectures at BFU

Andrei Chevelev, a UNESCO official and recipient of the Chinese Government Friendship Award, delivered a keynote speech titled "Talent Development for International Organizations" at BFU as part of the Yuyan Forum, a signature academic program hosted by the School of Foreign Languages.

Drawing on more than four decades of experience in international organizations and diplomacy, Chevelev explained how such institutions function and outlined the interdisciplinary skills they look for in professionals. Through practical examples, he also examined professional development pathways in the international sector and explored how Chinese youth can prepare for and play an active role in global governance.

During the Q&A session, faculty members and students held in-depth discussions with Chevelev on careers in international organizations, intercultural competence development and major issues in global governance.

Huang Wunan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, attended the event and noted that Chevelev has long been committed to promoting international cooperation in education, science and culture, and said the lecture would help broaden students' global perspectives and contribute to the university's internationalization efforts.

The Yuyan Forum aims to expand students' global outlook and enhance their intercultural communication skills. The event offered students an opportunity to engage face to face with a veteran diplomat and further strengthened their sense of mission in contributing to global governance.
