BFU holds the Seminar on Forestry Carbon Management for the Belt and Road Countries

The Seminar on Forestry Carbon Management for the Belt and Road Countries of the Ministry of Commerce was undertaken by BFU. Vice President of BFU Li Xiong attended the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony of the seminar.

Li Xiong, on behalf of BFU, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Commerce for its support of the seminar, and extended warm welcome to all the trainees. He introduced the history and characteristics of BFU, our experiences in undertaking seminars of MOC, and the training contents of the seminar to the trainees.


Melissa Atwell from Trinidad and Tobago and Jaromir Dvorak from the Czech Republic spoke on behalf of the trainees at the opening and closing ceremonies respectively. Members of the seminar management group, 14 participants from 5 countries including Thailand, Cuba, Czech Republic, Zambia and Trinidad and Tobago attended the ceremony.

In this two-week workshop, 12 experts and scholars from the Economic Development Research Center of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, Renmin University of China, Chinese Academy of Forestry and Beijing Forestry University were invited to give lectures about the development trend and prospect of forestry carbon management based on forest resources utilization and management, and the policies and practices of forestry carbon management. Experiences and references for the development of forestry carbon in various countries were shared, the forestry management of developing countries was enhanced, and forestry cooperation among countries through mutual exchanges was promoted.
