To mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France in 2024, the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the French Embassy in China jointly launched the Exposition Franco-Chinoise (LA SCIENCE TAILLE XX ELLES), presenting the achievements of female scientists from both countries. Recognized for her contributions to Sino-French scientific collaboration and forestry research, Professor Shi Juan from the College of Forestry at Beijing Forestry University was invited to to participate in the exhibition.

Professor Shi serves as the Executive Director of the Sino-French International Laboratory for Invasive Forest Pests (IFOPE), established jointly by BFU and the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and Environment (INRAE) in 2018. The laboratory focuses on collaborative research in invasive forest pests and biosafety, addressing critical challenges in forest protection and ecological security.

The exhibition will run from November 2024 to February 2025 at the National Center for Science Communication in Beijing. It features 20 portraits of female scientists from China and 20 from France, previously displayed in six French cities, including Toulouse, Paris, Lyon, Grenoble, Clermont-Ferrand, and Marseille. The initiative highlights the contributions of women to science, encourages their involvement in scientific careers, and fosters further Sino-French collaboration in research and innovation.

In recent years, the College of Forestry has deepened its collaboration with French universities and research institutions, particularly in forest conservation and climate change research. These efforts have significantly advanced the internationalization of BFU’s forestry discipline, enhancing its global influence and capacity to address critical scientific challenges.
