The 2025 World-Class Sci-Tech Journal Catalog was recently released by the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China (ISTIC) at the 19th Pujiang Innovation Forum. Two international journals hosted by Beijing Forestry University (BFU)—Forest Ecosystems and Avian Research—were both selected.

Forest Ecosystems covers basic ecology, forestry, and ecosystem science, while Avian Research focuses on zoology. Their inclusion reflects the growing international influence of BFU's English-language journals in these fields and marks an important step in the university's efforts to advance journal internationalization and branding.
Both journals have made notable progress in recent years. Forest Ecosystems is a leading journal under China's Excellence Action Plan for Sci-Tech Journals, with an impact factor of 5.4, ranking 5th in JCR Forestry and maintaining Q1 status. Avian Research is a tiered journal under the same plan, with an impact factor of 2.2, ranking 3rd in JCR Ornithology and also maintaining Q1 status. Their inclusion is another authoritative recognition of their publishing quality and academic influence.

The 2025 catalog is based on the World Science Citation Database and a four-pillar evaluation framework—academic organization, leadership, influence, and social impact. Covering 6,132 journals from 55 countries, it includes 353 Chinese journals (5.8%), ranking among the top five globally, and uses AI to link knowledge across languages. BFU has promoted journal internationalization through editorial board expansion, high-quality submissions, and international peer review. Moving forward, the two journals will deepen cooperation, enhance quality and global influence, and help more research reach the world.
