Beijing Forestry University's two English-language journals, Forest Ecosystems and Avian Research, posted significant gains in key citation metrics in the 2025 Journal Citation Reports (JCR) released by Clarivate. These improvements came alongside a steady increase in submissions and published articles, reflecting the journals' ability to scale up while maintaining—and even enhancing—academic quality. 

ccording to the latest JCR, the Impact Factor of Forest Ecosystems increased from 4.4 to 5.4, ranking 5th among 92 journals in the Forestry category and maintaining its position in the Q1 quartile. Meanwhile, Avian Research saw its Impact Factor rise from 1.8 to 2.2, ranking 3rd among 29 journals in the Ornithology category and also remaining in the Q1 quartile. Earlier this year, Elsevier's 2025 CiteScore also showed continued growth for both journals. Forest Ecosystem simproved from 7.4 to 8.3, while Avian Research increased from 3.1 to 3.3. The consistent improvement across both JCR and CiteScore reflects the journals' growing academic quality, global visibility, and recognition within the international research community. Both journals were also selected for the 2026 Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) Featured Journals Exhibition, reflecting the broad recognition of their publishing quality and distinctive academic identity. 

BFU's Chinese-language journals have also made steady progress. In 2025, the Journal of Beijing Forestry University achieved a CiteScore of 1.8, representing a 20% increase from 1.5 in 2024. Meanwhile, the Journal of Beijing Forestry University (Social Sciences) and China Forestry Education have continued to build their distinctive strengths in the fields of humanities, social sciences, and forestry education. Together, BFU has developed a comprehensive journal portfolio spanning both Chinese-and English-language publications across the natural sciences and the humanities, providing strong support for disciplinary development, scientific innovation, and talent cultivation. 

In recognition of their publishing excellence, both journals have been included in Phase II of the Excellence Action Plan for China STM Journals, with Forest Ecosystems selected for the Leading English-Language Journal Program and Avian Research for the Emerging Journal Program, providing strong support for their continued high-quality development.
