Recently, the new English-language journal Landscape Architecture and Sustainability was launched. The signing ceremony and unveiling of the editorial office for the academic journal took place.

LAS, an international journal co-hosted by Beijing Forestry University and Beijing KeAi Communications Co., Ltd (KeAi), will focus on cutting-edge theories, policies, and engineering techniques in landscape architecture and environmental planning, design, construction, and management. The journal aims to advance sustainable natural and human processes while providing a global platform for researchers, designers, and practitioners to exchange insights and share knowledge. Adopting a double-blind peer-review system, LAS will be published quarterly and is set to debut as an open-access journal on ScienceDirect in 2025.

At the ceremony, the director of the Social Services and Integrated Research Department at BFU emphasized the university's accomplishments in academic publishing.He expressed confidence that LAS, with its focus on the timely theme of landscape architecture and sustainability, would stand out by offering a global perspective and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. He urged the journal to take on its mission of advancing academic thought, facilitating international dialogue to shape the future of the industry.

Dr. Chai Zhao, Deputy General Manager of KeAi, emphasized that the LAS journal embodies the essence of the theme "harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature". He assured that KeAi would fully utilize its expertise in publishing to collaborate with BFU, aiming to create a prominent platform for presenting cutting-edge academic achievements.

The Editor-in-Chief, who also serves as the Dean of the School of Landscape Architecture, gave a comprehensive introduction to the journal’s inception, goals, editorial team, and publication plans. Gareth Doherty, Associate Editor and Associate Professor at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, shared his thoughts via a video address, expressing his excitement to work with LAS in exploring the potential of landscape architecture to contribute to urban sustainability from an academic perspective.

During the event, the Editor-in-Chief and Dean of the School of Landscape Architecture at BFU, along with Chai Zhao, signed a cooperation agreement on behalf of the journal’s host institution and publisher respectively. The unveiling of the LAS journal editorial office followed the signing. Participants also held detailed discussions on the journal's strategic direction, operational management, and the development of its editorial team.
