International cooperation meeting held between BFU and University of Canterbury

Recently, BFU and the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, held an international cooperation meeting online. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on areas such as student joint training and mutual recognition of credits. People in charge from the College of Forestry, School of Technology, College of Material Science and Technology, School of Science, College of Environmental Science and Engineering, and School of Ecology and Nature Conservation attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by the head of the Office for International Relations.

At the meeting, delegates from the School of Ecology and Nature Conservation and the College of Forestry at BFU deliberated upon the extensive history of academic dialogue and collaborative academic research between the institutions. Representatives from the Office for International Relations expounded upon BFU’s strategic concepts for high-caliber development and the trajectory of internationalization integral to fulfilling the institution's aspiration of becoming a premier university contributing to the construction of ecological civilization. Additionally, representatives from the College of Forestry, School of Technology, College of Material Science and Technology, School of Science, and College of Environmental Science and Engineering each presented their respective advancements, as well as accomplishments in international staff and student training initiatives.


Bruce Manley, Dean of the School of Forestry at the University of Canterbury, introduced the development of the University of Canterbury. Dr. Graham Wise, head of the International Development Department of the University of Canterbury, introduced the College of Engineering, and expressed their will for in-depth cooperation with relevant colleges of BFU on the basis of further mutual recognition of credits and talents exchange. Delegations from BFU engaged in a constructive dialogue with the University of Canterbury, culminating in a consensus on potential collaborative initiatives. Furthermore, strategic recommendations were proposed for fostering academic partnerships between their constituent colleges and the University of Cambridge. The Director of the Office for International Relations at BFU subsequently provided a comprehensive summary of the proceedings, articulating a detailed chronological framework and a roadmap to guide the ensuing phase of this collaborative endeavor.


In the future, the two universities will persist in fostering collaborative engagement between their respective faculties and students, predicated upon the principles of reciprocity and mutual benefit. They shall endeavor to explore avenues for the mutual recognition of academic credits and the development of advanced talent through high-caliber educational programs. This concerted effort aims to contribute significantly to the nurturing of preeminent talents endowed with a global perspective and a dedication to the construction of ecological civilization.
