On October 18, the opening ceremony of the "Seminar on Forestry Bioeconomic Research and Education Officials of Central and Eastern European Countries" sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and hosted by the College of Forestry of Beijing Forestry University was held in the College of Forestry. Vice President of BFU Li Xiong attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Leaders of the International College and the College of Forestry attended the ceremony which was presided over by the person in charge of the International College.

At the opening ceremony, Li Xiong extended a warm welcome to all the trainees and made a brief introduction of BFU and the background of the seminar. He hoped that the seminar could strengthen the communication and cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries(CEE countries) in forestry and bio-economy and lay a solid foundation for deeper exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in the future.

The person in charge of the College of Forestry introduced the training courses and teachers in detail, and said that the college will offer support to the seminar.

The participants expressed their sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Commerce and BFU, and hoped that all the trainees could learn something from this training, and further enrich the cooperation model of CEE countries in forestry by sharing China's experience in sustainable forestry development as well as wood and non-wood energy processing.

It is reported that BFU has successfully held foreign aid training of the Ministry of Commerce as the organizer for more than 10 consecutive years since 2005. The 14-day Seminar on Forestry Bioeconomic Research and Education Officials of Central and Eastern European Countries, themed on bioeconomic research in forestry, has attracted 10 officials from Montenegro and Bulgaria. In addition to the lectures from well-known experts and scholars of BFU, the training will also arrange trainees to practice in Jiufeng experimental forest farm, Hebei Saihanba mechanical forest Farm and other places.
