On November 28, Beijing Forestry University held the groundbreaking ceremony for Xiong'an Campus in the southern district of Xiong'an Campus site. All the university authorities attended the ceremony.

Wang Hongyuan, Chairman of University Council of BFU, announced that the construction of the new Xiong'an Campus officially kicks off.

At the ceremony, in the warm winter sunshine, the colorful balls were released with the sound of the whistle, indicating the thriving future of Xiong'an Campus. All the university authorities, Academician Mei Hongyuan of Architectural Design and Research Institute of HIT, Chairman Wu Aiguo of China Construction First Bureau (Group) Co., Ltd. and 8 alumni representatives of BFU jointly laid the foundation stone for the construction of Xiong'an New campus.

On behalf of the University Council and more than 20,000 faculty and students, Wang Hongyuan expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of Education, the National Development and Reform Commission, and Hebei Province for their long-term support and help in the planning and construction of BFU Xiong'an Campus, and paid high tribute to all the comrades who have made hard efforts to the new campus.He pointed out that the groundbreaking of Xiong'an campus, as a historic event in the development of BFU which will be forever recorded in BFU history, will turn over a new chapter and usher in a new spring of BFU, and will open up a new great historical journeyof BFU with its epoch-making milestone significance.He hoped that the Headquarter of BFU Xiong'an Campus Construction and the participating units will work together and make joint efforts to live up to the trust of the Central Committee of CPC and the expectations of all the teachers and students, building the new Xiong'an campus into a model campus of Chinese universities. He hoped that all the BFUers will do their best to contribute to the construction of the new campus, injecting strong collective strength. It is also hoped that all the alumni will continue to support the construction and development of the new campus and make contributions to the new development pattern of "One University with Two Campus", jointly drawing a bright picture and embracing the bright future of BFU.

President An Lizhe delivered a speech. He pointed out that the University Council grasped the historical opportunity, made a careful yet bold decision trought conprehensive research and planning. The Council acitivity strive for the support of the Ministry of Education, the National Development and Reform Commission, Hebei Province and other superior units, fully promoting the review of the general planning of the new campus and the approval of the construction project, and striving to start the groundbreaking at the end of the year.The groundbreaking of Xiong'an Campus marks the leap-forward development of BFU in the new era and new journey. As a major strategic measure for BFU to serve the national strategy of ecological civilization and the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, it will substantially enhance the comprehensive strength and lay a solid foundation for the sustainable, rapid and high-quality development of BFU. It is believed that in the future, BFU Xiong'an Campus will live up to expectations, becoming a model of world vision, international standards, Chinese characteristics, and high positioning, and a big platform for training leading talents serving ecological civilization, a source of green technological innovation, and a new home suitable for teachers and students to study and live in.

Xie Xuewen, Vice-Chairman of University Council and commander of Headquarter of BFU Xiong'an Campus Construction, presided over the ceremony. He pointed out that the construction of BFU Xiong'an Campus is a major choice of the University Council in response to the strategic deployment of the Central Committee of CPC, and an important measure to grasp the historical opportunity and promote the high-quality development of BFU. Through the joint efforts of the whole university, the construction of BFU Xiong'an Campus officially start to kick off, and the long-awaited moment for all BFUers and even all sectors of society is finally arriving.
