The Global Ecological Governance (Nansen) Conference, co-hosted by Beijing Forestry University, commenced on October 16th in Fengtai district, Beijing. Professors Riccardo Valentini, a leading climate change expert, and José A. Odriozola, a distinguished specialist in catalysis, were invited to give lectures. Li Zhaohu, President of BFU, honored the professors with visiting professorships in an appointment ceremony which was attended by more than 200 teachers and students.

In their presentations, Professors Riccardo Valentini and José A. Odriozola engaged in a comprehensive and detailed academic discussion with the faculty and students in attendance. They focused on cutting-edge research topics including the carbon cycle, land use, biodiversity in ecology, and the "metal-support" interactions within multiphase catalytic systems. Additionally, they shared insights and reflections from their research experiences, offering valuable lessons to the graduate students present.
Riccardo Valentini, a professor of Forest Ecology at the University of Tuscia in Italy, became a member of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) expert panel in 2007 and was elected as a Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences (EurASc) in 2020.
José A. Odriozola, the head of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Seville in Spain, has pioneered research in the field of heterogeneous catalysis through his systematic study of the interactions between metal substrates and modified supports, significantly advancing the understanding of "metal-support" interactions within multiphase catalytic systems.
