Recently, Lin Jinxing, professor of cell biology in the College of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology of BFU, stood out from many outstanding scholars at home and abroad to be selected as the co-editor-in-Chief of Plant, Cell & Environment (PCE), a well-known journal in plant science. This appointment places him alongside esteemed colleague Christine Foyer, who holds the presidency of the International Society for Applied Biology and a professorship at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom.

Lin Jinxing's appointment will further promote the exchange and cooperation between BFU and global scholars in related fields of plant science so as to speed up the improvement of "Plant and Zoology", which makes its initial entrance into the ESI top 1 discipline in 2023, making contribution to the second round of "double first-class" high-quality construction, and international influence expanding of BFU.

Publishing only the best work, Plant, Cell & Environment publishes original research, either theoretical or experimental, that provides novel insights into the ways that plants respond to their environment. Thus the journal covers plant biochemistry, molecular biology, biophysics, cell physiology, whole plant physiology, crop physiology and physiological ecology, together with structural, genetic, pathological and meteorological aspects as related to plant function.  In 2022, PCE published 243 research papers with an impact factor of 7.3.
