Recently, the inaugural meeting for the 11th Editorial Board of Forestry Science was held in Nanjing, with Vice President of BFU Zhang Zhiqiang in attendance. During the meeting, Academician Shen Guofang was appointed as the honorary editor-in-chief, with Academician Yin Weilun assuming the role of editor-in-chief. Peng Feng was designated as the executive deputy editor-in-chief, while Li Xiong, Zhang Zhiqiang, Luo Youqing, and Sun Xiangyang were named as deputy editors.

At the conference, Academician Shen Guofang delivered a heartfelt speech retracing his nearly 70-year connection with Forestry Science, which spanned from being a reader and author to serving on the editorial board and as editor-in-chief. He narrated how China's forestry journals, along with the field itself, were reinvigorated following the establishment of New China, thrived during the period of reform and opening up, advanced towards high-quality development in the new era, and continued to be refreshed by the contributions of the emerging young scholars. His vivid storytelling deeply moved everyone in attendance.

Academician Yin Weilun presented a work report titled "Upholding Integrity and Innovation to Promote the High-Quality Development of Forestry Science." He emphasized the importance to maximize the potential of the incoming editorial board at this new juncture, accurately define the journal’s strategic orientation and future trajectory, and scientifically formulating work goals, tasks, and timelines. With an international outlook, the aim is to strive for excellence, comprehensively enhance the journal's publishing capabilities, and elevate its quality and impact to new heights, thereby writing a new chapter in the high-quality development of Forestry Science.

Forestry Science is an academic journal focusing on fundamental and high-tech forestry research, sponsored by the Chinese Society of Forestry. Established in 1955, the journal has been dedicated to publishing cutting-edge research findings that reflect the advancements in China's forestry science. Over the decades, it has played a significant role in facilitating academic exchanges in forestry both domestically and internationally.

The conference, hosted by the Chinese Society of Forestry and Nanjing Forestry University, and organized by the editorial department of Forestry Science and the Science and Technology Department of Nanjing Forestry University, featured over 220 attendees including Academicians Cao Fuliang and Zhang Shougong from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society of Forestry Chen Xingliang, Deputy Director Ran Dongya from the Science and Technology Department of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, President Yong Qiang of Nanjing Forestry University, Deputy Secretary General Zeng Xiangwei of the Chinese Society of Forestry, editorial board members and young editorial board members of Forestry Science, and representatives from journals such as Acta Ecologica Sinica.
