On May 30, our univeristy was invited to attend a seminar at the Chinese Academy of Forestry to support Mongolia's Planting one Billion Trees Plan. President An Lizhe attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Deng Boqing, Deputy Director of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, Tan Guangming, Deputy Director of the State Forestry and Grass Administration, and Chu Fuxiang, President of the Chinese Academy of Forestry attended the meeting.

An Lizhe thanked the China International Development Cooperation Agency and the National Forestry and Grassland Administration for their trust and support for BFU. He introduced the dominant role of BFU in carrying out scientific research in the five terrestrial ecosystems in detail, including strong technical reserves, rich experience in the construction of demonstration zones and thorough talent training system. He pointed out that BFU will give full play to the advantages of teaching, scientific research and personnel training to fully support Mongolia's Plant a Billion Trees Plan.
Deng Boqing put forward four points. First, Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization should be implemented and the practice of desertification prevention and control in China and Mongolia should be fully carried out. Second, a group of experts should be set up quickly to conduct field research in Mongolia. Third, a scientific and reasonable cooperation plan on desertification prevention and control should be formulated; Fourth, advantageous resources in different areas should be coordinated to promote the work to be caried out in an orderly manner.
At the meeting, experts reported on the progress of preparatory technical research, the general planning framework for supporting Mongolia's Plant a Billion Trees program and the field visit plan.
Also present were heads of relevant departments of China International Development Cooperation Agency, National Forestry and Grass Administration, Chinese Academy of Forestry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China International Engineering Consulting Corporation, and heads of School of Soil and Water Conservation, College of Forestry, College of Grassland Science, and experts of anti-stress tree breeding from College of Biology Sciences and Technology of BFU.
