BFU establishes China's first School of National Park

On May 31,  the first School of National Park in China was established in Beijing Forestry University, and the inaugural meeting of the School was held in BFU to discuss the talent cultivation for national parks.



Guan Zhiou, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director General of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration (National Park Administration); Tian Fuyuan, Deputy Director General and first-degree inspector of the Development Planning Department of the Ministry of Education; Yin Weilun, former President of BFU and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Yu Guirui, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Wang Hongyuan, Chairman of University Council of BFU; An Lizhe, president of BFU, inaugurates the School of National Park.


President Xi Jinping said the national park system is an important measure taken by China to promote ecological protection, build a beautiful country and pursue harmony between humans and nature. The purpose of establishing the national park system is to protect the authenticity and integrity of natural ecosystems, preserve biological diversity, protect ecological buffer zones and leave behind precious natural assets for future generations.


Through continuous construction and development, China's national parks have gradually become an important brand of local ecological civilization construction and played a positive role in biodiversity protection. Since talent is the key to the construction of national parks, Beijing Forestry University takes the lead in establishing the School of National park to lay a solid talent foundation to promote the construction of national parks with high quality.

After the unveiling ceremony, experts, scholars, leaders of relevant departments, and representatives of national park construction parties held discussions and exchanges on what kind of national park talents are needed and how to cultivate them for national park construction.


It is reported that BFU will integrate the resources of forestry, landscape architecture, ecology and other special disciplines to promote the construction of national park disciplines. "National Park Science" has been listed as a key discipline of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, and the major of National Park Construction and Management will begin to enroll undergraduates in September this year.
