BFU Delegation Visits Benha University for Cultural Exchange

The delegation of BFU Chinese Folk Music Ensemble headed by the university¡¯s International Relations Office and Youth League Committee visited Benha University in Egypt from Nov. 16 to 21 to promote cultural exchange and cooperation.

During the visit, the delegation held with the leadership, International Relations Office and other departments of Benha University a series of symposiums, where the two sides took stock of their latest cooperative developments over the past two years and shed light on prospects for future partnership. It also exchanged views and shared experience with Benha¡¯s agriculture, humanities, education and other schools, sitting in academic and cultural classes, organizing workshops with Benha¡¯s faculties and students, and elaborating on the time-honored history and culture of the two nations as well as the enduring friendship between the two peoples.

On the sidelines of the visit, the BFU Chinese Folk Music Ensemble staged two concerts, one at Benha¡¯s agriculture school and the other on its Obour campus, playing not only the traditional Chinese repertoires, including Festival Overture, Jasmine and Beautiful Flowers and Full Moon, but also the classical Egyptian music, such as Songs by the Nile. The performances were well acclaimed by all the local teachers and students.

Present at the concert held on the Obour campus, SONG Bo, Educational Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt spoke highly of our students¡¯ performance and also commended our university for a whole range of tangible cooperation initiatives with its Egyptian counterpart, hailing them as good examples worth promoting among all the cultural exchange practices. He suggested BFU continue its efforts in expanding cooperation with Benha in more aspects, for instance, talent development, scientific research and social services, thereby making its share of new contribution to the two countries¡¯ partnership in advanced education.

Focusing on exchange of traditional cultures and arts along the China-Egypt Silk Road, the visit proves to be an another effective attempt of our university to respond to and support the country¡¯s BRI Educational Endeavor. It has not only graphically displayed our students¡¯ versatility and given full expression to our confidence in Chinese culture, but also strengthened mutual understanding and friendship between the two universities and provided impetus to their all the more extensive cooperation in the future.
