On the morning of April 21st, the 2023 Spring Sports Meeting of Beijing Forestry Univeristy with the theme of “Play sports in the sun, embrace health in BFU”kicked off. The sports meeting, lasting two days from April 21st to 22nd, is devided into student competition and faculty competition, and teams from 23 schools and departments participated in.
The university authorities were present at the openning ceremony. All referees, coaches and athletes particapted in.
Wang Hongyuan, Chairman of University Council, declared the opening of the sports meeting, and fired the starting gun for the men's student group 100-meter race.
An Lizhe, President of BFU, gave the opening remarks. He said that the University Council has been attaching great importance to physical education(P.E.) and regarding it as an essensial part of the construction of high-level personnel training system. Last year, the majority of teachers and students actively participated in sports and have made great breakthroughs in P.E. Our students excelled in the Beijing Winter Olympics and various national and municipal competitions, which fully demonstrated the healthy spirit of BFUers.
Vice president Lixiong presided over the ceremony. He pointed out that we should organize a variety of sports activities to serve the all-round development of students, improving their comprehensive quality, and he hoped that teachers and students could enjoy the fun of physical exercise while enhancing physical fitness.
Referee Liu Liwei took the oath on behalf of all the judges, and Ma Haowen from the College of Biological Sciences and Technology spoke on behalf of the athletes.
After the flag-raising ceremony and following the grand sound of “March of the Athletes”, the teachers and athlete representatives from all schools and departments, dressing in uniform, entered the field with sonorous and powerful steps which showed the youthful vigor of the BFUers.
After the opening ceremony, the teachers and students from schools showed the beauty of culture and youthful vitality with wonderful performances, which won the warm applause from the audience.
