Liang Xi: Pioneer of China’s Modern Forestry Industry, BFU’s copyrighted play, debuts as part of BFU’s Loyalty & Commitment

BFU news— BFU’s copyrighted play, “Liang Xi: Pioneer of China’s Modern Forestry Industry”, debuted on October 16 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 67th anniversary of the founding of Beijing Forestry University. The play pays tribute to the older generation of scientists and educators represented by Liang Xi, recalling the original aspiration of those in China’s modern forestry and calling on the younger generation to shoulder the responsibility of the new age.

After six years of elaborated preparation, the play finally came to the stage. Based on the real stories of Liang Xi, with moving artistic details, highly expressive performance and perfect lighting design, the play achieved great success. All of the 25 cast members are dedicated performers of young students from BFU, among them are sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, with a primary school student being invited to play the role of Liang Xi in his childhood.

The play vividly showed Mr. Liang Xi’s extraordinary life, his painstaking efforts in the development of forestry industry and ecological civilization of the country. It fully demonstrated the “Chinese Dream” and “Green Dream” of people working in forestry, the patriotic dedication and commitment of the older generation of scientists represented by Mr. Liang Xi, their innovative research attitude, and lofty spirits and noble characters, all of which encouraged the younger generation in forestry industry to shoulder their responsibilities in the new era.

It is understood that the play, “Liang Xi”, is a part of BFU’s Loyalty & Commitment Education Campaign, a new attempt for BFU to review its history, and tell its stories. Inspired by the spirit of Liang Xi, BFU has been responding to the call of the Party, from its founding in 1952, to its relocation to Yunnan province. Now it has developed into a national key university featuring forestry, landscape architecture, forestry engineering, and agricultural and forestry economic management.
Nowadays, BFU, adhering to the concept of “turning mountains green, and making waters clear”, has cultivated more than 100,000 graduates for the country, including a large number of outstanding experts represented by 15 academicians of the two academies. In order to realize Mr. Liang’s “Green Dream” and “Chinese Dream”, BFU has made unremitting efforts.
