The second batch volunteer teachers to Horqin Right Front Banner attended the meeting online.
Secretary Wang stressed that it is of great significance to hold this report and the forum on the eve of the 7th National Day for Poverty Alleviation and the 68th anniversary of the University. He mentioned that BFU had over the past years committed itself to poverty alleviation efforts and borne in mind the instructions of President Xi jinping concerning work in this regard. In line with the requirement of the MOE, we have made great efforts in strengthening the leadership of the party, enhancing our awareness, consolidating our political stance and heightening our sense of responsibility. Results obtained from our poverty alleviation efforts are telling evidence that we had enhanced “4 Consciousnesses” through boosting the “4 Confidence” sticking to the “2 Maintenances” principle. Poverty alleviation is a practical action to implement the “4-Fors” policy; it is an important measure to establish a world-class forestry university rooted in China; it is an important way to examine the school’s achievements in strengthening teachers training and optimizing the way works are done. All departments and divisions of the University had spared no effort in delivering the wonderful fruits that stand the test of the people and history.
Wang Hongyuan pointed out that the poverty alleviation work of our school has three distinctive features: firstly, volunteer teachers are the main force, and we have established an all-round poverty alleviation system, which is solidly backed up by sufficient financial support, human resources training and industry building; secondly, compulsory education is at the core, and we have built a comprehensive supporting system that covers primary, middle and high schools; thirdly, we have set up an educational service system that takes classroom teaching as its core while bringing into full function the potentials of the classes, schools and families.
Wang Hongyuan emphasized that we had drawn three important enlightenments from poverty alleviation through volunteer teaching. First, it is the enlightenment of how to build our school into a world-class forestry university rooted in China. We must build our university into one that can help the CPC and our government in implementing the national strategies that can be sincerely welcomed by Chinese people, one that meets the demands of the “4-Fors” policy put forward by President Xi. We must move toward a university that serves the people and the governance of the CPC, consolidates and develops socialism with Chinese characteristics, boosts reform and opening up and socialist modernization construction. Secondly, it is the enlightenment of how to build a contingent of high-quality teachers and how to train young teachers to be excellent teachers with both moral and talent. We should provide young teachers with multiple channels and a platform of learning and work that combines the grassroots, practice, and the public, and guide young teachers to become cultivators of talented young people. Third, it is how to make full use of the role of volunteer education platform to make the volunteer education platform into high-quality resources benefiting both one and other. First, colleges and universities can use such platform to support primary and secondary schools to block the transmission of poverty from generation to generation. Second, it is necessary to make the volunteer education platform where young intellectuals in colleges and universities can interact with the community level and enjoy rapid and healthy growth. Third, the platform should be built into one for university officials and teachers to cultivate patriotism, strengthen their ideals and beliefs, serve the grassroots and get rid of ideological and spiritual poverty. Fourth, we must closely rely on local Party committees and governments to create a sound environment for voluntary education. We should strengthen the leadership of the Party, improve the working mechanism of cooperation between university Party committees and local Party committees, and give play to the exemplary role of the temporary Party branch and party members of the volunteer education service group.
During the meeting, Sun Xinli said that the BFU volunteer teachers demonstrated their keen cares to the students in the recipient schools, warmed the campuses with their knowledge and fulfilled their duties to the great poverty alleviation cause. She hoped that all teachers and students would continue to study and put into practice President Xi Jinping’s instructions concerning poverty alleviation, and would regard the designated assistance in Horqin Right Front Banner as their mandated political tasks. Under the leadership of the university Party Committee, we will put the prevention of poverty and the return to poverty in an important position. Thorough plans shall be made in advance to push forward the great campaign of targeted poverty alleviation, education poverty alleviation and rural revitalization strategies in the post-2020 era, further improve the quality of educational poverty alleviation, and help the Horqin Right Front Banner move towards overall revitalization.
