Recently, the China-Mongolia Desertification Prevention and Control Technical Exchange Symposium was held in Beijing Forestry University. N.Batkhuu, adviser to the president of Mongolia on Environment and Green Development, and Oyunsana, director general of the State Forestry Administration of Mongolia, and other officials attended the symposium. Xu Qiangxing, second-degree Counsel of the Department of International Cooperation of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, and Zhang Zhiqiang, Vice President of BFU attended the symposium.
An Lizhe extended a warm welcome to N. Batkhuu and the delegation, and briefed on BFU’s development, as well as its disciplinary construction and talent cultivation. He stressed that the exchange of desertification prevention and control technology is of great significance to scientific research cooperation and in-depth coordinated development between China and Mongolia, and that green development is the common ideal and mission of both sides. He hoped that the two sides could seize the favorable opportunity to advance practical cooperation, jointly build an ecological security barrier between China and Mongolia and promote ecological civilization.
N. Batkhuu, on behalf of the Mongolian delegation, thanked our school for its warm reception. He noted that his visit to China is to promote the cooperation between the two countries on green development within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and Mongolia's national initiative of "Planting one billion trees". He hoped that the two sides will carry out scientific research cooperation, technical exchanges and personnel training in grassland restoration and desertification mitigation to jointly promote sustainable development.
Zhang Zhiqiang presided over the symposium. He pointed out that through talent cultivation, technical training, cooperative research and other appraoches, our university has made outstanding achievements in the fields of aerial sowing, engineering desertification control, evaluation of vegetation carrying capacity in sandy areas, sand industry and other fields, and has become the backbone of all-round service support for national and global desertification prevention and control, especially for the Belt and Road countries. Our university will give full play to the advantages of disciplines, actively docking, and promote win-win cooperation between the two sides.
Xu Qiangxing appreciated the professionalism and dedication of the experts from the Mongolian delegation. He hoped that we can take this opportunity to further strengthen bilateral exchanges and cooperation and comprehensive strategic partnership in the field of desertification prevention and control and make contributions to promoting bilateral ties to a new level.
The participating experts exchanged ideas and had a heated discussion on related professional subjects, jointly promoting mutual learning of desertification prevention and control experiences between China and Mongolia.
Leaders of the International Exchange and Cooperation Department of BFU, relevant person in charge of the School of Soil and Water Conservation and professional teachers attended the discussion.
