Recently, four new varieties of low creeping and plant-type compact chrysanthemum cultivated by the chrysanthemum breeding team of Professor Zhang Qixiang from the National Engineering Research Center for Floriculture of Beijing Forestry University obtained Certificate for improved varieties of forest tree in Beijng after the examination and approval of improved varieties in Beijing by official Committee.

Chrysanthemum, as a renowned traditional flower in China, is one of the earliest cultivated ornamental plants in the world and one of the city flowers of Beijing, and it has been widely used in landscaping; however, there are still some problems such as the plants being too tall and prone to falling over, low stress resistance, and requiring meticulous care, which limits its promotion and application in landscaping.
The four excellent varieties can survive the winter outdoors in northern China, with low and creeping plants, strong branching, compact shape, abundant flowering, strong ground covering ability, and strong resistance to falling over, especially with outstanding characteristics such as cold resistance, drought resistance, and tolerance to extensive management. They have a good application prospect in landscaping, ecological restoration, and other fields.
