On September 19, the inaugural meeting of the Beijing Forestry University(BFU) African Alumni Association was held both online and offline. An Lizhe, Vice Chairman of University Council and President of BFU, Vice President Li Xiong, leaders from National Forestry and Grassland Administration, representatives of the BFU Alumni Associations in Australian& New Zealand and Nigeria, and more than 60 alumni from 11 countries including Nigeria, Cameroon, Namibia, Mali, Togo, Ghana and Rwanda attended the meeting.
An Lizhe extended warm congratulations on the establishment of the African Alumni Association and expressed his heartfelt thanks to the African alumni who care and support the development of BFU. He pointed out that the BFU African Alumni Association has unique advantages in that we have supports comes not only from Chinese alumni of BFU who have devoted themselves to the development of Africa, but also from overseas students who have traveled across the ocean to study in BFU, and both of them serve as a bond between BFU and African alumni to help each other. He hoped that the first Council of the BFU African Alumni Association will gather, support and serve the BFU alumni in an extensive way, and make contributions to the development of the alumni, BFU and Africa.
Vice President Li Xiong presented the letter of appointment to Honorary President, President and vice president of the African Regional Alumni Association online.
At the meeting, the Secretary general of the BFU Alumni Association read out the reply on the establishment of the BFU Alumni Association in Africa. Leader of the International College and representatives of the preparatory committee of the branch Alumni Association introduced to the guests the background of the establishment and preparatory work of the Association.
Ren Ning, the new president of the Association, extended a sincere invitation to BFU alumni in Africa to join in the association and sent sincere wishes to BFU on its 70th anniversary.
It is reported that the BFU Alumni Association in Africa is the first branch alumni association of forestry institutions with international students as the main body to complete the entity registration in Nigeria, which plays a significant leading and demonstration role in the construction of international student alumni association of forestry institutions.
