Seminar on Forestry Program Development for the Belt and Road Initiative Countries (online) officially opened

Seminar on Forestry Program Development for the Belt and Road Initiative Countries (online)  organized by the Ministry of Commerce and undertaken by Beijing Forestry University (BFU) officially opened recently. Vice President of BFU Li Xiong attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. The Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Economics and Management, the head of the International School, and 72 members from 12 countries including Thailand, Brunei, Uzbekistan, South Africa, Jamaica and Sudan participated the ceromony as well.

 

 

Xiong Li introduced the history and characteristics of BFU as well as the school's experience in undertaking short-term training courses for the Ministry of Commerce and the main content of this training course. He hoped that the trainees would take this opportunity to strengthen exchanges and jointly promote the development of forestry.

 

The Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Economics and Management introduced the school's experience in educating international students. Since 2005, the School of Economics and Management has successively undertaken a number of short-term training programs organized by the Ministry of Commerce and the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, and established the the MOFCOM Scholarship Program for Master in Forest Economics&policy. A total of more than 200 international students of various levels have been trained.

 

Student representative Sasima Aree from Thai spoke on behalf of the students in the seminar.

 

It is reported that during the two-weeks-long seminar, 18 experts and scholars from the Economic Development Research Center of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration as well as BFU were invited to carry out this systematic training, which will enable the trainees to systematically understand China's main practices and achievements in forestry policies, forestry reforms, ecological construction and industrial development, etc.. through this, the forestry cooperation and exchanges among developing countries along the “Belt and Road” will be further strengthened.
