The opening ceremony for the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China(MOPCOM) Scholarship Program for Master in Forest Economic & Policy of 2020 was lately held in BFU online and offline.
Li Xiong, Vice President of BFU, extended warm welcome to the new students on behalf of BFU for their participation in the program. In his speech, Li Xiong introduced the mission, aspiration and core values of BFU, and hoped that through theoretical research, academic innovation and exchanges, the students could feel the vitality of contemporary China and apply what they learn from the experience of Chinese forestry scientists and technologists in environmental governance, ecological protection and solutions in response to climate change to their own national development.
Hu Yuanhui, Deputy Director of Department of International Cooperation, National Forestry and Grass Administration, warmly welcomed the new students and expressed his gratitude and recognition to the China-Aid training work of BFU. He stressed that forestry ecological governance is fundamental to sustainable economic and social development. In addition, the participants are encouraged to learn and share the practices and experience of China’s forestry reform and development according to the actual situation of their own countries.
The 2020 Master program of Forest Economics and Policy in Developing Countries of MOPCOM has enrolled 16 students from 9 countries. Seidu Musah, a Ghanaian graduate alumni Representative from Class 2019, was invited to give a speech. He recalled his dribs and drabs in BFU, expressed his gratitude to the tutors, teachers and staff, and extended a hearty welcome to Class 2020. Moreblessing Madzore, a Zimbabwean student from Class 2020, thanked MOPCOM and BFU on behalf of Class 2020 for providing valuable learning opportunities for international students and all the teachers for their hard work in online teaching. She said that she will cherish this precious learning opportunity and look forward to coming to China when the epidemic is over.
