WANG became a member of the CPC in July, 1984. After being conferred his master degree from Beijing Normal University in June 1988, he joined the Ministry of Education (MOE) and worked consecutively in the Research Center of Course-books for Elementary Education, the Executive Office, and the Comprehensive Reform Department of the Ministry. During the 7 years (August 2005 through August 2012) when he worked as the Vice Inspector of the Executive Office, he was assigned for some time to Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and sat concurrently on the post of the Deputy Director of the Education and Sports Bureau there. In August 2012, he assumed his post as the Vice Director of the Comprehensive Reform Department of the MOE. He has been the Secretary of BFU CPC Committee and member of its Standing Committee since July, 2015.
As the Secretary of BFU CPC Committee, WANG takes full and complete responsibility for all CPC-related work in the university and is principally in charge of party organization and development. He is the chief leader of the General Office of Party & Administrative Affairs, the CPC Organizational Division (the BFU Party School), and sits concurrently as the president of the BFU Party School.
